Musicians at all levels should consider specialist insurance. Whilst home insurance may seem an easier option it can have issues with cover required for musicians. Newmoon have designed their policy to meet the needs of people playing instruments and the policy will have special extensions of cover to provide cover in circumstances where your home policy will exclude cover. Simple examples will be Newmoon provide professional cover e.g. where you are paid whilst home policy will exclude any items where a fee is paid to you and even damage whilst you are playing the instrument. Newmoon also provide full theft cover in school class room/ music store/ locations where you are not responsible for the control of security, whilst home policies and many other specialist policies will require force entry into these rooms/store etc.

• Cover bespoke per instrument

Newmoon offer within your policy the ability to select different levels of cover per instrument. A simple example being a piano may require only premises cover whilst your bagpipes are only played outside the home thus requiring UK cover. Newmoon offer for individuals, 2 policies choices with slightly different features. The Natural policy is designed for school children with starter instruments upto a value of £1500. This cover is designed to cover UK travel upto 30 miles from your home plus school trips including school overseas travel upto 28 days. Newmoon’s other product is Harmonic which allows you to tailor your cover. Harmonic will cover you from a schoolchild just starting playing to a professional on worldwide tours. The Harmonic policy can include public liability upto £5m. For bands we have our Harmonic+ policy with many extensions of cover e.g. Trustee indemnity, EL, building cover etc.

No value depreciation on your instrument and equipment which are all handled by the insurers Ecclesiastical award winning claim claims team (please remember evidence of ownership required if you make a claim).

• Additional covers

Newmoon’s policies will include additional cover as standard. Under the Harmonic policy you also get additional instruments upto £3,500 covered for free for 14 days whilst you try them out on approval, Hire costs upto £1000 in event of a claim and need to hire a replacement instrument, music accessories e.g. spare strings upto £750 and transportation costs upto £250 if for larger instruments e.g. Harp you need to take to repairers (subject to terms and conditions).
