King 1141 BBb Marching Tuba - Silver (ex-hire instrument, fully serviced)

The instrument is supplied in a heavy-duty King case, in full working order and good condition.

Please note that no mouthpiece is included in the listing; however, we usually stock a wide selection of suitable mouthpieces should you wish to purchase one.

Condition Description

This tuba has been fully tested and serviced as necessary by our technicians to ensure complete function and the best possible sound.

The mechanical condition is excellent:

The tuning slides have been cleaned, polished, and carefully fitted, creating a tight fit and a neat surface finish. They move smoothly and offer good resistance.

The valves have been physically and chemically cleaned, and their action is quick, easy and smooth. The pistons themselves are unmarked and in excellent condition.

The instrument has been given a thorough internal clean, to remove any dirt or mineral deposits to that might interfere with the airflow.

There are no signs whatsoever of red rot, or of any other chemical wear.

The cosmetic condition is good:

The third branch has been de-dented, resulting in an uneven surface covered in many tiny bumps and dings (see photos 5, 6 and 7). This is the most apparent cosmetic wear on the instrument.

There are a few small dings spread across the rest of the tuba, including some on the bell flare (see photo 8). The bell flare is scratched around the very rim, where the tuba has been repeatedly placed on its bell on a rough surface. (This is unsurprising on a marching tuba.)

With these exceptions, the condition of the silver plate is very good. There are only a few scratches, some light polishing marks, and no tarnish or other marks.
